Job opportunities in 2021
Some of the best job prospects in 2021 will be around data. The use of data will continue to grow in big businesses and government. In fact, the National Skills Commission has placed data analysts and data scientists at the top of its list of 25 frequently advertised emerging occupations.
Cyber security is booming, with greater emphasis on digital platforms and remote working. According to a forecast by the Australian Cyber Security Growth Network, approximately 7,000 more cyber security workers will be needed nationwide by 2024.
2021 will see a high demand for labourers, especially in key trades, due to demand created by State and Federal home-building grants and a stable mining sector. The biggest growth for labourers has been in Queensland and Western Australia in farming and forestry, food preparation, mining and construction.
Big business will be bringing call centre positions back home due to overseas operations being affected by COVID-19 restrictions. As a result, it’s predicted that between 8 and 10 thousand jobs will be created over the next year.
Health and aged care
Not surprisingly, nursing and aged care workers will continue to be in demand in 2021, with an estimated 57,000 extra nurses needed across the country to comply with fixed minimum staffing ratios being recommended by the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.
